What to do in  Talbingo

Bush Walking – Kosciusko National Park Kosciuszko National Park | NSW National Parks

Camping – A range of different camping locations are available in around Talbingo, from the Talbingo Caravan Park,  Jounama Creek, Blowering Dam, 3 Mile Dam, Yarrangobilly Village Camping ground (Please check relevant website for bookings/fees)

Fishing – There are a range of popular fishing spots in and around Talbingo, from a boat on Talbingo or Blowering Dams, to fishing Jounama Pond, Jounama Creek, rivers and streams around Kiandra (check seasonal closures).

Golf – Talbingo Country Club is home to a very scenic nine-hole Golf Course that is open 7 days a week (Fees apply).

Mountain Biking – Talbingo Mountain Biking Skills Park and Trailhead to Foreshore Mountain Bike track to the Tumut 3 Power Station is located across Miles Franklin Drive opposite the Talbingo Country Club.

Playgrounds – Talbingo has some great playgrounds suitable for kids of all ages, Bingi Park has a hamster wheel, flying fox and swing, Bridle Street Park on the edge of the Talbingo Playing Field has lots to climb and swing on, together with basketball hoop.

Snow sports – Nearby we have the Selwyn Snow Resort – a great family friendly affordable  snow playground, with Ski lifts and Toboggan Park  Selwyn Snow Resort | Your Mountain Playground Awaits

Swimming – Talbingo Beach Swimming Area is located beside the boat ramp at Talbingo Dam. Jounama Creek, Blowering Dam and Three Mile Dam are also popular swimming areas.

Tennis Courts – All weather surfaced tennis courts are located behind the Talbingo Country Club (a fee applies)

Waterskiing – We have two great dams nearby – Talbingo Dam and Blowering Dam Blowering Dam – Visit Snowy Valleys

Walking in Talbingo

Path to Fitness in Talbingo is suitable for prams, mobility devices, bike and for all ability levels.  Five fitness stations along the path offer a range of different exercise opportunities.

Jack Bridle Walking Track – Extends from the Talbingo Country Club to the Snowy Mountains Highway. It is a moderate grade track with bitumen surface suitable for walkers, runners, bikes. 5 km round trip.

Walking in the Local Area 

Landers Falls Lookout walk – Access from Snowy Mountains Highway. 10.6 km walk from carpark. When conditions are suitable 4WD vehicles can proceed to 1.6km from Lookout. Landers Falls lookout walk | Map | NSW National Parks

What to See:

Talbingo Dam   is a major ungated rock fill with clay core embankment dam with concrete chute spillway.  Visitors can drive across the dam wall and enjoy the scenic views from the carparks at each end of the wall.

Tumut 3 Power Station  Miles Franklin Drive Talbingo.  Take a walk around Tumut 3 Power Station and see the size and scale of one of the engineering marvels of the modern world. View the power station from external viewing areas with informational signage. Unfortunately, as the power station is operational there is no internal access or tours available.  A picnic area with toilets is available for the visiting public.

Black Perry Lookout – Located on the Snowy Mountains highway at the top of Talbingo Mountain has wonderful scenic views of the extensive wilderness area of the northern end of Kosciuszko national Park.  

Jounama Creek

Landers Falls – Follow the walking trail to the two lookouts and view Talbingo Dam from a different perspective.

Sculpture Trail – Talbingo is just one stop along the Snowy Valley’s Sculpture Trail – Sir William Hudson Park, opposite the Talbingo Service Station on Miles Franklin Drive is home to two sculptures of the Snowy Valleys Sculpture trail that featured in the 2023 and 2024  Sculptures by the Sea displays .

Snowy Valleys Wellness Drive – Wellness stations in and around the township focus on the rejuvenating powers of water across the Talbingo landscape. Yarrangabilly Caves  – A great family experience, bush walks, cave tours or a dip in the Thermal Pool Yarrangobilly area | NSW National Parks

Wildlife  Kangaroos (Eastern Grey)  abound in Talbingo.  Regular sightings of Emus along Blowering dam.  Keep your eyes open at night to see possums.  The keen observers may catch sight of platypus and lyrebirds.
